    The Personal Injury Process
  1. Patient seeks course of treatment, duration will vary due to extent of injury. Treatment ends when patient has reached maximum recovery, or pre-injury status

  2. Finalized bill is mailed to liable party. They will also recieve a doctor's lein, allowing them to pay Mistretta Chiropractic directly for treatment.

  3. Patient enters settlement negotiations with liable party and reaches an agreement. The settlement amount is intended to cover damages, loss and medical bills, as well as pain and suffering and inconvenience caused by the liable party's negligence.

  4. Liable party sends settlement payment. In some cases, a two party check may be issued due to the doctor's lein. If payment is issued to patient in full, patient is responsible for paying Misretta Chiropractic from that settlement amount.

Medpay - Some motor vehicle plans carry a rider called Medpay, which is intended to supplement health insurance by helping to meet your deductible. Medpay amouts vary by policy and can range from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand. Some patients are concerned about rate increases due to claims, but realize that your auto insurance rates cannot legally increase due to a Medpay claim.

Mistretta Chiropractic does not require personal injury patients to hire legal counsel in order to pursue a treatment plan. Representation is the sole decision of the patient.

It is the policy of this office to collect patient health and auto insurance information at time of initial treatment. In the event that the liable party is unwilling or unable to pay, we will seek payment from the patient's health insurance carrier in order to minimize patient's out-of-pocket costs. If all liable party and patient insuance policy options are exhausted, patient is ultimately responsible for amounts owed to Mistretta Chiropractic.
